Trivium Art History was founded in 2008 by the the theoretical design group RAWWAR
What does ‘trivium’ mean?
The trivium was the three subjects taught first in medieval schooling: grammar, logic, and rhetoric. We’re exploring art history through these methodologies: our grammer is artworks and images. Logic is the context and understanding of art through theme, era, and iconography – and rhetoric is the ability to communicate what is learned.
Grammar is the mechanics of a language
Logic is the mechanics of thought and analysis
Rhetoric is the use of language to instruct and persuade.
